The Workspace is the only pay by day studio in Ames!

To work on projects on your own, fees are:

ISU Students $3 per day or $25 per semester
Non ISU Students $4 per day or $30 per semester

If you are enrolled in a class, you may use the equipment utilized in your class any time during the open hours. This benefit is available to you up to one week after our class ends.

Ceramics:
A fully equipped ceramics studio is available for use for producing hand built or wheel thrown works. The price of clay ($17 for 25 pounds) includes the use of our tools, glazes and firing. Storage space is available for projects and personal materials in our rental lockers. Whether you are a beginner or have advanced skills, anyone with interest in ceramics is welcome to use our facility.

Screenprinting:
The Workspace offers studio space and equipment needed to produce quality one-color t-shirts. Students must exhibit prior experience or take the screenprinting class to use the equipment. Or, let us do the work for you. Choose from tons of shirt and ink colors for custom-made t-shirts. There is no minimum, and orders can be completed in about 2 weeks.

Woodshop:
Our woodshop studio has a wide variety of equipment needed to make finished wood working projects. Tools and rental lockers are also available.

For your own safely, the Workspace requires every patron of the woodshop to complete a basic safety course, or exhibit such knowledge by means of a short written test. We want you to feel comfortable using our tools safely!

If you need a board cut or a hole drilled, but don't have the knowledge or time to do it yourself, show us your project and we can do it for you. Cost estimates are provided.

Darkroom:
Darkroom equipment is available to develop and print 35mm black and white film. Chemicals and paper are available for purchase, or bring your own supplies and use our rental lockers. Reserving darkroom space is recommended, but not required. Call 294.0970.

Mat Cutter:
The Workspace has a Logan 350 mat cutter that is available for use for those who have completed the one night mat cutting workshop. Or, bring us your matboard with the window opening drawn on the back and we will cut it with clean, beveled edges for 2 bucks.

Printmaking:
The Workspace has a small press that is available for use by printmakers. We don't carry other supplies, but if you bring your own in, you can store them in one of our rented lockers.

Jewelry Studio:
The Workspace has tools and equipment for casting, jewelry construction, glass beads and more. Supplies such as copper, findings, glass rods and solder can be purchased from the Workspace to complete your jewelry projects.

Glass:
The Workspace has tools for stained glass, fused glass and glass bead making. We carry glass rods for beads, but please bring in your own glass for fusing or stained glass.
