The Great Iowa State MU Medallion Hunt
The Memorial Union is hosting the MU Medallion Hunt this Fall, from Friday, October 23 to Friday, November 20, 2020.
The hunt is simple, read clues, find a medallion, and if you are the first to find it or if you find 6 of the medallions, you can win a prize!
One medallion will be hidden at a time for 3-4 days after the clue is posted. There will be 8 medallions hidden in total over the next four weeks, between today at noon and Friday, November 20th at noon. Be the first to find a medallion, then you will get a prize. Find 6 out of 8 medallions or be the first – and you will be entered in grand prize drawing. The Grand Prize is a 55-inch Smart TV!!!
How to play:
First, look for clues via email, MU social media or the MU Digital Displays to find the medallion somewhere “inside” the MU.
Second, the names of Medallion finders will be put in a drawing for the grand prize given on the Friday of Dead Week – November 20th.
Every few days, clues will be sent out giving you hints as to where you can find a medallion!
1. You can only be the first to find a medallion and get a prize once.
2. You can find a medallion in public areas ONLY (no offices, back hallways, maintenance areas, custodial areas, etc.)
3. Once you find a medallion, leave it where you found it. Take a picture of it and email the picture with your name and contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org. Do not take the medallion.$. Even if you are not the first to find a medallion, you can still be entered in the Grand Prize Drawing if you find 6 out of 8 of the medallions.
Some of the medallions will have information about a discount in the place it is hidden. Find the medallion and find the discount as well.
The Medallion is gold on one side and black on the other side. It is 1.5 inches across. The Medallion has an engraving of three chess pieces.
As you sit down to
read the poem,
Look this way
and that way.
Someone that walks
can’t see you below him,
and as Debra would say:
|Make the world new each day.
A circle above,
A circle beneath
Glass in front,
Glass in retreat
I hope you had fun,
|with this search and find
I hope it helped
Your current state of mind
Where am I?
Who: Anyone can participate: students, staff, community members, families
What: The medallion is gold on one side and black on the other side, and 1.5 inches across. The medallion has an engraving of three chess pieces. We’ll hide 8 medallions total, and only one medallion will be hidden at a time.
Where: Inside the MU. You can find a medallion in public areas ONLY (no offices, back hallways, maintenance areas, custodial areas, bathrooms, etc.)
When: The first clue will be given out on Friday, October 23 at noon, and then each medallion will be hidden in the building for three or four days before the next clue will be sent to find the next medallion. The grand prize drawing will be on Friday, November 20 at noon. This will be done live on our social media accounts, and the winner will be announced on our website.
How: Clues will be given out via email and MU social media accounts. Use the clues to try and figure out where the medallion is hidden in the MU. The clues will give you hints about where to find the medallion, but will not tell you the exact location. You will still need to look around. Once you find a medallion, take a picture of it and email the picture with your name and contact information to email@example.com. Leave the medallion where you found it. If you are the first to find the medallion and email me a picture, you will win a prize. Read below to learn more about the prizes.
Why: To safely explore the MU and win prizes! If you are the first to find a medallion, you will win a prize ($25 value), and you will be entered into the grand prize drawing. If you find at least 6 out of the 8 medallions, you will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize.
