MU 2 You: Branding & Social Media - My MU Campaign
Join MU Marketing Specialist Kristin Erdman and Graphic Designer Kenzie Hosch as they explain the new MU marketing campaign, Memories Made at My MU, and the design services and creative jujitsu their office can do for all student orgs and ISU departments as well as the MU.
MU 2 You: Memorial Union Workspace Programs
In this week's video, Letitia Kenemer joins the MU 2 You web series to share about the Memorial Union Workspace and other art related initiatives. Those from the Iowa State, Ames, and surrounding community are welcome to visit the Workspace to try out a craft or learn a new skill. The Workspace offers walk-in crafts, in addition to classes such as string art, tango, ukulele, woven wall hanging, jewelry making and so much more. The Workspace also coordinates programs such as Art Mart, the Poster Sale, the art lending program, and multiple art exhibits. MU 2 You: ISSO Student Engagement, Programming, Travel
Even when our doors are closed, we miss you all! In efforts to stay connected with our students, guests, and community, we have created this virtual web series. In our MU 2 You web series, we'll be focusing on career readiness, student engagement, event trends, what happens behind the scenes, and many other topics. We're excited to have you join us!
In this week's episode of MU 2 You, Jessica is joined by Navya Mannengi of the International Students and Scholars Office. Navya talks to us more about her role in the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) as well as their programs, resources, and services. Navya shares ways that international populations including students, scholars, and their families can get connected at Iowa State University amidst a worldwide pandemic. Although programs and experiences may look different in the fall semester, ISSO staff will be there to support and assist international students through their transition to Iowa State.
MU 2 You: Weddings Part 3 - Special Events Assistant
To wrap up our three part series about Memorial Union weddings, Jessica is joined by Grace Hoins to talk about her position as the Special Events Assistant. Grace tells us more about her responsibilities including social media engagement and management, vendor communications, assisting with large-event planning, and wedding day support. As a student majoring in Event Management, she talks about the educational benefits of integrating behind-the-scenes planning and day-of execution. Grace shares valuable tips and tricks for engaging your target market on social media as well as general advice for students looking to get involved. MU 2 You: Showcasing the Lectures Series
Amanda Knief with the Lectures Program joins Ashley and Seth this week. The Lectures Program is a partnership between the University and Student Government and is unique to Iowa State. With the goal of adding to student's educational experience, the program provides in person events where students can meet with experts who have knowledge in their field or expand their interests to new fields. The Lectures Program hosts 80-90 programs each academic year, many of which are hosted within the Memorial Union. MU 2 You: Impact of Student Organization Experiences
Event management seniors Makenzie Schurk and Diego Bonilla join the MU 2 You. Makenzie and Diego both excel in the classroom, serve as leaders of multiple student organizations, and thrive working in the Event Management Office. Makenzie and Diego are able to apply the skills and information they learn in the classroom to enhance their experiences in the workplace. College is a time to learn, take chances, and grow personally and professionally. Take their advice and get involved!
MU 2 You: Leadership Programs
Erica Swanson joins Ashley and Jessica to share leadership programs and resources coordinated by the Memorial Union. Erica shares how the Leadership and Service Center is available for consultations, to answer questions about starting a new club, to facilitate ice breakers with your student organization, and so much more. Gaining leadership skills is beneficial for all students regardless of their major. MU 2 You: Showcasing the Center for LGBTQIA+ Student Success
Ashley and Jessica chat with Cheltzie Miller-Bailey from The Center for LGBTQIA+. Cheltzie shares how The Center hosts events throughout the year to build community and how the physical space in the Memorial Union provides a place to connect with other students and staff. She discusses how Lavender Graduation is being held virtually this spring. In order to make graduation memorable and personal for these graduates, The Center sent each student a "pride box." Cheltzie also shares some tips on how to stay engaged during this time.

MU technology specialists Casey Dague & David Hannon join the MU 2 You web series today to talk about some tools, tricks & tips in transitioning events to online only formats. Jessica Erickson joins Ashley Snyder to talk about the transition from being a college student into becoming a full-time professional. Jessica shares insight regarding her experience working in the Event Management Office as a student, the job search process, interviewing tips, how to make connections in the workplace, and work/life balance.
