Biography

Second Lieutenant Clyde Irving Griffith was born in Ames, Iowa to Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Griffith. He graduated from Iowa State College with Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering.

He enlisted in aviation at Madison, Wisconsin in August 1917. He attended ground school at Champaign, Illinois and flight school at Garden City, Long Island; San Antonia, Dallas; and Houston, Texas. He was comissioned Second Lieutenant on March 1, 1918 and retained as a flight instructor.

Clyde died of influeza while on leave in Ames, Iowa on January 18, 1918.
