"DUBUQUE - First Lieutenant Marc Strumpell, fighter plane pilot, was reported missing in action following a raid in Italy December 2, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beulow. He attended Iowa State College in Ames before enlisting in April, 1942. He was awarded the Air Medal and two Oak Leaf Clusters while serving in the Mediterranean area."
