Biography

Second Lieutenant Robert Samuel Johnson was the son of Mr. Donald G. Johnson. He grew up in Ireton, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State College in 1914 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Robert enlisted in the Navy in April, 1917 and was assigned to the Civil Engineers Corps as a second lieutenant. He was loaned to the Canadian government to help build hydroplane bases on the eastern coast.

He died, possibly from influenza, on October 13, 1918.
