Biography

Private Carl Wilber Polson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. Polson. He had come to Iowa State College as a member of the Mechanical Training Detachment, Company A, from his hometown Indianola, Iowa. Carl died of influenza on November 16, 1918 here at Iowa State.  

Letter to Iowa State College President Raymond Pearson, received Jun 17, 1924:

"I would be very glad to contribute to the memorial if I could, but as it is my financial circumnstances will not permit me to do so. Since loosing my son, I have lost my husband, so my help is gone. Wishing you success.

I remain yours very truly, Mrs. Elmer C. Polson."
