Biography

Second Lieutenant Arthur Knox Patterson Lieutenant Patterson was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on February 14, 1918 to S. Lee Patterson and Emma Ware Patterson. He had one sister named Stella.

While at Iowa State, he worked for the maintenance crew at the Memorial Union. He graduated in the 1939 and entered service in April 1939 at the ground school at Tuscalusa, Alabama. He became a second lieutenant on February 7, 1941 at Kelly Field, Texas. 

Arthur died when the plane crashed into a farmhouse near McChord Field, Washington State on June 23, 1941. The plane had engine trouble. At the time of his death, he was serving with the 8th Bomber Squardon (L), AFCC at McChord Field.
