Biography

First Lieutenant Charles Henry Rannells II was born to Charles H. Rannells, Sr. and Winifred Huie. He may have been related to Robert V. Rannells, given that they were both from Dunlap, Iowa.

He attended Iowa State College for one year in 1934. He married Helen C. Fitzgerald on December 28, 1939 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. They had a son, Charles H. Rannells III, who was four years old at the time of his father's death.

Charles graduated from Southern Illinois University in medicine. While in the service, he was sent to Camp Barkley, Abilene, Texas. He became ill, and left the service in April 1942 to return to practice medicine.

He died of asthma in Evanston, Illinois on September 23, 1942.
