Biography

Private First Class Edward Earl Augustine was born in Rose Hill, Iowa on December 7, 1922. He grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Edward left Iowa State College to enlist in the army at Camp Dodge, Iowa on July 1, 1943. He completed six months of advanced training in engineering at Cincinnati University in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 7, 1943 and made Private First Class. He was sent to the European Theater of Operations with the 7th Army, 314th Infantry, 79th Division, Company C.

Edward died near Reipertswiller, France during the Battle of the Bulge on January 10, 1945. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and a Presidential Citation.
