Biography
Private Pearl W. Yates was born in Mendota, Missouri and grew up in Albia, Iowa. He was the son of Nellie Yates.
He came to Iowa State College in the Mechanical Training Detachment.
Pearl died of influenza on November 22, 1918 during the Spanish Flu epidemic that hit Ames and the college campus.
