Biography

Ralph Warren Bailey was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1920 to Ray Bailey and Effie Ennis. After the deaths of both parents, he lived with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker, in Jesup, Iowa. Ralph had three bothers: Sergeant Roy Bailey, Clarence and Robert. He also had four sisters: Mrs. Roland Ula Brown, Nellie, Mrs. William (Iva Mae) Dinnibler and Helen.

Ralph attended Iowa State College for one year before enlisting in the Army Air Corps at Des Moines, Iowa on June 9, 1942.

He died in the crash of a single engine training plane at Yuma, Arizona on January 26, 1943. He was just one month shy of getting his wings as a Second Lieutenant.
