Sole Hope Volunteer Day at the Workspace

Posted on March 15, 2017 at 2:37 PM by Ethan Carney

The Workspace at the Iowa State Memorial Union is hosting a volunteer day for Sole Hope on Wednesday, March 29 from 2-10pm.

Volunteers will cut shapes to form a shoe out of donated denim jeans. These will then be shipped to Uganda where local shoemakers will craft shoes. Pairs are given out at medical clinics to help prevent the devastating effects of jigger bugs. Drop in for an hour or two, or stay for the whole day. Sole Hope encourages a $10 donation for each pair of shoes prepared, but it is not required to attend.

The mission of Sole Hope is “Offering HOPE, healthier lives, and freedom from foot-related diseases through education, jobs and medical relief.”

This event is open to all ages if accompanied by an adult and no registration is necessary. Find the Workspace at 2229 Lincoln Way on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information visit www.workspace.mu.iastate.edu or www.solehope.org.
