Memorial Union Parking Ramp Updates
Thank you for your patience as we worked with our campus leadership to address the unprecedented situations that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including parking.
Starting today, any student holding a 2019-2020 Annual or Spring 2020 parking permit for the MU Parking Ramp has the ability to request a pro-rated credit for a future parking permit for the ramp, or a pro-rated refund, in the event you will be graduating from ISU or don’t plan to park with us at the MU parking ramp in the future.
If you would like to request a credit/refund, please contact the MU Parking Ramp Manager Kim Hasstedt at email@example.com. Please note that the pro-rated amount that will be credited/refunded back will be as of the date that we received notification that you would like to discontinue your permit.
We appreciate your patience while we worked through this situation, and hope that you will consider parking with us again in the future! Until then we hope that you, your family, and your friends stay safe and healthy.
We are in the midst of an unprecedented situation. First and foremost, we are working to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff — and to implement the continuation of classes and essential university operations.
Our leaders are working to develop a more complete understanding of many financial implications the COVID-19 crisis is having — and will have — on Iowa State.
That includes questions related to parking. We need to respond in a consistent manner to these and similar questions, and it will take careful thought. Some parking issues will require input and decisions made in partnership with the City of Ames and the Memorial Union.
This will take time, so please be patient. We understand your need for answers, but we also want to provide information that is not only timely but accurate, fair and consistent. We hope to have answers as soon as we’re able — and they will be communicated broadly to all students, faculty, and staff with parking permits in all locations, including the Memorial Union Parking Ramp.
Campus and Memorial Union parking lots remain open. For now, the university has decided to suspend the parking refund policy for faculty and staff during the COVID-19 emergency. This means you cannot receive a prorated refund or stop your payroll deduction for returning parking permits unless you end your employment at the university.

2 hours - $3.50
3 hours - $5.00
4 hours - $6.50
5 hours - $8.00
6 hours - $9.25
7 hours - $10.50
8 hours- $11.75
Maximum daily parking fee (24 hours): $13.00
Lost ticket - $30.00
Illegal exit fee - $140.00
ISU Student Alumni Association member discount: One hour free parking from 5 p.m.- midnight
Parking Ramp Entrances
South Entrance - When traveling West on Lincoln Way, there is an entrance immediately after the traffic light at Ash Avenue. Turn right (North) into that entrance. You can also turn right on Lynn and immediately right again into the South Entrance.
North Entrance - When traveling west on Lincoln Way, turn right on Lynn Avenue or Welch Avenue and continue to the first stop sign. At the stop sign, turn right onto Union Drive. At the next stop sign, continue on Union Drive by turning right. Continue past the front entrance of the Memorial Union and turn right (south) into the parking ramp's North Entrance.
Hosted Event Parking
All vehicles are charged for parking, though conference, meeting or special event planners may arrange for various hosted parking options in advance of their event (ie. the host of the event pays for their guest's parking).

Annual: Cost: $585* Valid: July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021
Fall: Cost: $256* Valid: August 23, 2020 – December 19, 2020
* Initial Card Fee: $6
